International School Introduction

Since its establishment in September 2016,  International School has primarily been responsible for the recruitment and education of international students across the university. It also hosts artist residencies at the International Ceramics Studio and organizes various international ceramics exchange programs. To date, the college has educated over 800 long-term and short-term international students from more than 60 countries, including undergraduates, master's and doctoral candidates, advanced students, and Chinese language learners across disciplines such as design, engineering, management, economics, and history.

The 2017 “South African Materials Art Workshop” pioneered our university's first customized international engineering program. The 2019 enrollment of a 100-student “Chinese Language Program” expanded the International School's course offerings and student diversity. In 2022, with our School's active facilitation, our university formally signed a cooperative agreement with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana to jointly cultivate master's degree candidates in materials science. The School of Materials Science and Engineering is responsible for implementing the specialized training program, with over ten students currently enrolled in the program.

In 2018, International School was designated as a “Jiangxi Provincial Research and Practice Education Base for Primary and Secondary School Students.” The same year, International Ceramic Studio was approved as a “China Government Scholarship International Student Social Practice and Cultural Experience Base.” The School hosted the China Scholarship Council's “Experience China” program for scholarship recipients in both 2018 and 2019. The International School regularly organizes selected works by international students for participation in domestic and international ceramic exhibitions and exchange activities. It encourages students to actively engage in various academic and cultural events both on and off campus, enriching their extracurricular lives while fostering a sense of patriotism and school spirit.

The International Ceramic Studio is committed to building a diverse and open platform for international ceramic cultural exchange. Through this platform, it invites faculty and students from partner institutions abroad to facilitate the implementation of international exchange programs. The number of international ceramic cultural exchange activities has steadily increased year by year. Since 2016, the studio has hosted approximately 1,500 visiting professors, experts, scholars, and delegations for on-campus ceramic residencies. These artists have created numerous outstanding ceramic works while delivering lectures, exhibitions, demonstrations, and courses both on and off campus. This initiative actively supports the university's international teaching and research development, establishing the studio as a vital platform for disseminating and exchanging international ceramic culture. Additionally, the International Ceramic Studio serves as a vital platform for the International School to support the university's development of an International Ceramic Cultural Exchange Center and Ceramic Talent Research Center, as well as Jingdezhen Ceramic University's alignment with the objectives of the Jingdezhen National Pilot Zone.

International School has established diverse short-term exchange programs with multiple international institutions, including the ENSAD-Limoges (France), ENSBA Lyon (France), Aalto University (Finland), Hongik University (South Korea), Anadolu University (Turkey), and Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University (Turkey). It has hosted over 20 ceramic cultural experience activities for more than 1,000 participants, including official delegations, academic groups, visiting teams, and study tours from both domestic and international sources. In 2024, it successfully hosted the China International Ceramic Summer Academy, the “Belt and Road” International Ceramic Education Alliance Ceramic Creation Camp, and the China International Ceramic Summer Academy—British Design, Encountering Ceramic University, among other events. These initiatives represent the School's relentless efforts to advance international ceramic education cooperation and exchange.
