“Porcelain Another Way”

Ilona Romule

Ilona Romule refers to her work as three-dimensional stories in color, where drawing and form collaborate to create a visual narrative. Her influences are drawn from daily life and blended with fantasy and fable to creatures, animals and hybrid forms.
Supporting her forms is an exceptional use of industrial ceramic process. Crafting her own own perfect molds then casting and sculpting her own porcelain; Romule holds an expectation for the porcelain to be flawless. Together two languages : one of material and one of painting form a contemporary and powerful vocabulary that binds concept and skill in a way few porcelain makers are able to achieve.
Jingdezhen Ceramic University’s International Studio is excited to host Ilona in the studio and introduce her process to the University. Please Join us for an International School Lecture this Thursday.
